The Prince Rupert Hotel is less than 10 minutes  walk from Shrewsbury Railway Station.
Trains run regularly up to approximately 11.30pm. Please check the times for your specific journey.

This year’s Shropgeek (R) Evolution will be held at The Prince Rupert Hotel, famous for its hauntings.

Rumour has it that several ‘spooks’ tour this prestigious, town centre hotel and Shropgeek members have mixed views on whether or not to do a bit of ghost spotting during the evening.

Previous sightings have been of a jilted bride said to have hung herself after being snubbed by her fiancé and that of a young man who took his own life after his girlfriend ran off with his best friend.

Event organiser Zach Beauvais said

"I think most geeks are inherently skeptical of ghostly sightings, but we should make sure none of our speakers is spooked during a presentation: I'm sure there's an app for that."

Shropgeek was set up in 2009 as an informal way for web developers, designers and IT professionals to meet and share knowledge, experiences and ideas. Since then it has developed a wide following on social media site Twitter and holds well attended informal meetings once a month in Shrewsbury.

September 2nd will see their second annual event The Theory of (R)Evolution held at The Prince Rupert Hotel in Shrewsbury from which donations will be made to The British Heart Foundation in memory of Leu Thorn who first set up the group with Zach Beauvais.

‘Sadly Leu passed away in 2009 when Shropgeek was still relatively new. Since then the group has grown in numbers and reputation. Leu always planned for there to be an annual ‘geek’ so it seems only right to make a donation in his name. This year’s event will be bigger and better than last year and we are very excited to have 3 high profile speakers as well as Jim Hawkins from BBC Radio Shropshire hosting the event for us.’
